Outdoor Operations Manager

 

Classic Displays is looking for a motivated and experienced Outdoor Operations Manager to lead the planning and execution of field installations across the GTA and beyond. This role involves coordinating crews, managing schedules, overseeing installations of street furniture, banners, and seasonal displays, and ensuring all projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standard.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and oversee field crews for installation, servicing, and removal of Classic Displays’ products.
  • Directly oversee the Installation Supervisor, Warehouse Manager, and Production Manager
  • Assist in operational systems, and process improvements (NetSuite experience preferred).
  • Develop and maintain crew schedules, ensuring optimal staffing for projects.
  • Design and implement Traffic Control Plans in compliance with Book 7 regulations.
  • Ensure on-site safety and compliance, including adherence to Book 7 traffic control regulations and equipment safety protocols.
  • Manage equipment, trucks, tools and rental requirements to ensure availability and proper maintenance.
  • Act as the primary onsite contact for installations, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Project Management teams to align installation timelines and client expectations.
  • Oversee seasonal installation projects, including holiday displays and post-season removals.
  • Improve operational workflows, optimizing crew efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Lead and enforce safety procedures and conduct training sessions to uphold workplace safety standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans for team members.
  • Establish quality control checkpoints to ensure all installations meet Classic Displays' high standards.
  • Plan and execute seasonal installations, ensuring smooth operations during high-demand periods (e.g., holiday displays).

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in field operations, crew leadership, or project management in construction, landscaping, or related industries.
  • Proven experience managing outdoor crews and scheduling labor effectively in similar or related industry.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and lead teams to execute projects efficiently and safely.
  • Strong knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as working with bucket trucks and other aerial equipment (preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve on-site issues quickly while keeping projects on track.
  • Experience enforcing safety protocols and traffic control planning (Book 7 knowledge preferred).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License (DZ license is a plus).
  • Working at Heights Certification (preferred, training available).

 

Additional Assets

  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Ontario Working at Heights (if not, we will provide training)
  • Aerial lift certification (if not, we will provide training)
  • Background in sign installation, rigging or electrical
  • Crane / Boom truck experience
  • Aerial Lift (Bucket Truck) experience
  • Experience with scissor lifts, forklifts
  • Experience driving larger or heavy duty vehicles

 

Job Type:

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed (especially during peak installation seasons)
  • Night shifts as required (November to February for seasonal installations)
